Lucinda has won the CCI** at Lignieres, France on Nysa De Petra, beating Zara Phillips and Joanna Rimmer after a penalty-free showjumping round.
The achievement comes a year after Clayton won the same event on Bendigo.
Nysa De Petra, owned by John and Elizabeth Allsop, was competed by Clayton at Lignieres last year in the CIC* but was not placed. Lucinda’s final score was 47.4.
Nicole Pearson writes:
“Lucinda, Nicole, Emz and Jackie timed it just right and left the rain behind for a week of sunshine and success in Lignieres in France. Cinda rode Nysa de Petra and Flying Finish in the CCI** and Hathors Grace in the CIC* and Nicole rode The Navigator in the CIC*
“Cinda reports “we had a fantastic week with four horses jumping four double clears resulting in a win and 3 placings!” The lovely grey mare Nysa de Petra led from start to finish with an excellent dressage of 47.4 and had a well deserved 2** win for owners John and Elizabeth Allsop who have been so supportive in allowing Lucinda to produce the mare slowly and carefully and who finally have an internationally successful horse after more than 20 years of event horse ownership.
“Donald Reid also made the trip to Lignieres to watch his horse Flying Finish end up a credible 5th in the 2**, and despite having to cope with primitive living quarters and a difficult journey, was still there with John to support the team. This placing upgraded Flying Finish to Advanced only 10 months after quitting his previous career as a trail horse in Germany and at only his 12th ever event.
“Cinda has the ride on Kelly Anderson’s Hathors Grace while Kelly is getting settled at university and they finished 11th in a very competitive CIC*. “Grace settled well into the routine of being in an international atmosphere and I’m now looking forward to the CCI* at Somerset International (Aldon!!)” says Cinda.
“Nicole had a confidence boosting final run before the Asian Games finishing on her dressage score in 16th place out of 104 starters and was thrilled with how well Frances Smart’s gelding went. They now begin their final preparations before leaving for Pre Export Quarantine in Aachen at the end of October.
“A great trip was made even better as the stables were lovely, the hospitality wonderful, the rose wine delicious and the atmosphere fantastic. To top it all off we got the Sky working in the lorry and many riders nipped in and out between cross country rounds to catch up with the action at WEG and thus a great party in the lorry all day everyday.”
