Clayton and Bendigo III were in Portugal over the weekend and claimed victory in the CIC 2* Harley Davidson Horse Trials held at Herdade Vale. First prize was a Harley bike, and in true style Clayton took it around the course for a victory tour prior to mounting the podium to claim the win.
Clayton – at Barocca ahead of next week’s three-star event – said “This is great news for Bendigo, he’s back on track now after his short break. He’s looking in great form . For a two-star event the Harley had a very tough cross country track and in the showjumping he jumped the most superb clear round”
Bendigo’s win followed a respectable score of 46.5 overall. Clayton rode four horses in the competition and Rosie – Dunges Laurent Rose - took ninth place, with Be My Guest and Walterstown Don coming in further down the field. ‘Walter’ was slighly injured during thecross-country and withdrew.
“I was very pleased with Rosie , she tried her guts out in the showjumping, but it was really tough, heavy going and they were jumping out of sand. She will be competing in bigger events this season.” he added.
