Nysa does well in first Three-Star

Lucinda and the team were at Houghton Hall in Norfolk over the Bank Holiday weekend , riding Emily Oppenheimer’s Mr Miller (Smokey) and John Allsop’s Nysa de Petra (Nysa) – pictured on the right - in the CCI3***.

“Just to let you know that Houghton went pretty well- nearly brilliantly. ” she told us earlier. “Nysa de Petra competed in her first 3 star CIC only having done 2 star level before, and performed so well she finished 5th in good company.

“Paul Tapner won on his 4 star horse Stormhill Michae and I was delighted that Nysa was so bold yet careful xc. The show jumping caused a lot of problems, the xc was very technical and the organisers had done a brilliant job with the ground which turned out to be perfect.

“Mr Miller also went beautifully and was lying 3rd before the xc BUT, I incurred 20 penalties at a tiny bank coming out of the big water where I had to be right next door to the red flag before turning to 2 off-set blue carts, and he popped his head and neck the wrong side of the flag.

“I couldn’t believe it but there we go- he gave me an incredible ride and will now aim for Barbury or Aachen. Nysa will also aim for Barbury then Aston le Walls advanced.” she added.

Lucinda will be heading for Bramham near Wetherby, West Yorkshire for next weekends international competition, taking Pipe Band (Maisie), and The Navigator (Scobie). Bramham runs between Thursday 2 June and Sunday 5 June.
