Help us keep Flying Finish at Rosegarth!

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to take a half-share in a future champion horse – and help Lucinda keep the ride on Flying Finish, with whom she has been building a rewarding partnership.

News also this week of another well-known Team Fredericks horse, Mr Miller 2, who is for sale at a very realistic price due to a change of circumstances.

Flying Finish (Christi) is a ten-year-old bay gelding with all the potential. He was 2nd in the CCI3* at the recent Olympic trial at Vairano in Italy, just behind Gold Medalist Butts  Abraxxas and will now be aimed for the Nations Cup at Houghton Hall in May followed by his first 4 star at the HSBC Luhmuhlen event in June.

“Christi started the final phase in third behind two Olympic horses and I’m very proud of him to finish 2nd in such top company. He took it on easily, didn’t make a mistake all week and came home with plenty of energy.  I am really looking forward to the challenge of his first 4 star.” , Lucinda told us.

Flying Finish (pictured right) has a tremendous record being double clear in all 6 of his 3 star international level events, including 6th at Fontainbleau this year and best Australian team horse in Aachen Nations Cup 2011, 9th [individually].

Owner Donald Reid is looking for someone to share ownership so Christi can stay with Lucinda and Team Fredericks. We found Christi in a German riding school at the end of  2009 for Donald to ride himself, but due to health problems  Lucinda trained and competed him in his first few events and suddenly he had upgraded to Advanced in one year. “ He is a
genuine, kind, amazing jumper, super mover, has such a helpful attitude and every day I look forward to riding him.”

“I am desperate to keep the ride” Lucinda told us “I have built up a great partnership with Christi and he’s a truly brilliant horse. We are looking for someone who can buy into the ownership and help me produce him for the next World Games and the 2016 Olympics.”

Mr. Miller 2 (Smokey) is a stunning looking 11yr, 16.1hh, German bred, grey gelding owned currently by Mrs. Emily Oppenheimer.

He’s a genuine and safe horse and a superb jumper, with 111 BE points. Smokey with Lucinda aboard was first in the Open Intermediate at Tweseldown earlier this season and took fourth place in the AI at Aldon in March.

This time last year Smokey, again with Lucinda, took first place in the Open Novice at Withington Manor and in 2009, ridden by Clayton Smokey was first in the two-star competition at Barocca, Portugal.

Smokey  would suit a competitive junior or competent adult rider. Price a very reasonable £20,000 – contact Lucinda for more details on either of these horses.

Unique auction will prove a gem of an opportunity for horse lovers

Team Fredericks and Uptown Eventing are offering horse lovers a once in a lifetime opportunity to own one of Headley Britannia’s foals by Grafenstolz – Britannia’s Jewel (Ruby, pictured right) – in a unique online auction.

The auction was the brainchild of Clayton Fredericks and Uptown Eventing’s Rachel Wakefield and Michael Wynne whilst they were all on holiday together last year.

Clayton commented Ruby is a beautiful filly with the potential to follow in Headley Britannia’s hoof steps and be one of eventing’s next big horses with the right owners to train and care for her. Ruby has such great potential in terms of breeding and athleticism that we wanted to offer her to an international market.  Selling horses is an inevitable part of our lives, as it’s impossible to make a living from competing.  We feel that Brit’s bloodlines and ability must be made part of the gene pool and from a practical point of view we can’t keep all of her foals”.

The auction is being organised by Rachel and Michael, who run Uptown Eventing. They are sales agents with a fantastic track record who specialise in top class international event horses so they were the natural choice for us to run the auction and manage the sale.

Uptown Eventing’s Rachel Wakefield added, “We are delighted that Team Fredericks have asked us to procure the sale of this exceptionally well bred foal and to be involved in this unique online sale. People will be able to follow the bidding live so it will be really exciting!”.

The auction will open on Monday 28th May at 09.00 (GMT +1) and will close at 21.30 (GMT +1) on Tuesday 12th June 2012. Potential owners will be required to register prior to being able to place a bid. The auction website, www.britanniasjewel.com is now live for people to see videos and full information on Ruby prior to bidding.

Flying Finish second at Vairano

Lucinda and Flying Finish were second in the CCI3* at this weekend’s horse trials at Vairano in Italy, just behind German rider Ingrid Klimke. Flying Finish went clear in the showjumping round and ended the event on  a score of 49.2.

Lucinda described the result as “fantastic” on her way back from the event. “Christi (Flying Finish) was third after dressage and cross-country behind two Olympic horses, Butts Abraxas ridden by Ingrid Klimke and Gazelle La Brasserie ridden by Karin Donckers, but then jumped one of five clears in the showjumping to move up to second place. I’m very proud of him to be second in his first three star, behind Ingrid’s top horse. He took it on easily, didn’t make a mistake all week and finished with plenty of energy” she added.

Acheron was unlucky and tripped in the water jump during cross country in the CIC2*, putting paid to his chances this time. ”He decanted me into the water fair and square, but luckily nobody was hurt” Lucinda joked afterwards.

Former Team Fredericks horse Latina 43 , ridden by Yumaria Takayuki of Japan, was fourth in the three-star event. Lucinda’s pupil Charlotte Gray was 25th in the two-star on her horse Currachase DDZ. There’s more information and photographs on the Vairano official site.

Results from South of England

All three of Lucinda’s novice horses were placed at this weekend’s South of England competition at Ardingly, Sussex. Lucinda competed A Zarah, Shelter Cove and Rovello in the Novice event and achieved three double clears. Shelter Cove was third (34.2), Rovello II 4th (38.3) and A Zarah eighth (43.9). on Sunday Nysa De Petra (pictured right)  took fifth place in the Open Intermediate on 36.9.

Clayton and Bendigo III were sixth in the advanced intermediate on a final score of 45.8, and MR Sydney Rocks finished on 56.4 in the OI. Macarthur III took seventh place in the novice section O with 41.3. Both Be My Guest and Walterstown Don were withdrawn.

Final day at Burnham Market

Team Fredericks have made a powerful showing at the Burnham Market International horse trials in East Anglia, with Clayton leading two CIC3* sections after dressage on Bendigo III and Walterstown Don, who went on to win Section D on a final score of 49.3. In the Novice, Lucinda on Rachael Evison’s Azarah pipped Nicola Wilson and Sea Lark to first place, with scores of 37.4 and 40.8 respectively.

Dunge’s Laurent Rosé and Be My Guest did  fantastic dressage tests on Friday, with Rosie ending fifth (47.6) and Lottie also moving to fifth position in each of the three star sections with a score of 41. Both horses were withdrawn at the showjumping phase, however, as was Bendigo. Lucinda competed Acheron in the CIC** and finished 29th ; Flying Finish was withdrawn SJ from the Advanced section.

Full Results can be seen on the event’s website. Walterstown Don is pictured, right.
