Where’s Headley Britannia?

Since winning Burghley Horse Trials last year and then Badminton Horse Trials this spring, there have been a lot of retirement rumours circulating about Lucinda Fredericks’ mare. Using the assistance of the Burghley Horse Trials scholarship in association with Twemlows Hall Stud, Little Brit has produced two embryos by the show jumping stallion, Jaguar Mail, to be born out of recipient mares, on loan from Twemlows Hall.

Lucinda says, “The main aim is to have the Brit ready for the Olympics next year so she’ll take part in some CIC***s this autumn, including at the invitation event in Deauville, France, and possibly the new four-star at Pau, France.” Edward Matson from Twemlows Hall and Lucinda Fredericks with Headley Britannia, centre, and her recipient mares for her future foals, Bear, left, and Pippa, right. Lucinda adds, “Eventually I’d like Brit to produce a future champion for my daughter, Ellie, but since Ellie’s only three now, these ones will probably be sold.”
